SENATOR FLANAGAN TO HOST EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MEETING IN SMITHTOWN

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) is hosting an Emergency Preparedness Seminars to help local residents prepare for any sort of emergency situation. The meeting, which will be held in Smithtown, will be open to all and free of charge.

Representatives of the New York State Emergency Management Office, the Suffolk County Office of Emergency Management, the American Red Cross and the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) will be on hand to provide residents with expert advice about how to prepare for and deal with an emergency situation.

Those in attendance will learn how to prepare a disaster supply kit, develop a family communications plan, and a host of other important safety tips.

The meeting, which will begin at 7:00 p.m., are scheduled for the following dates:

Tuesday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m.

“As we approach what experts predict may be an active hurricane season, it is extremely important that we all remain as ready as possible this year,” stated Senator Flanagan.  “This meeting is designed to provide residents with the expert information necessary to be prepared in the event of an emergency.  While we all hope that we never have to put this information to use, it is important that our community as a whole be as prepared as it can possibly be.”
